Clear operational guidance for planning professional backline. Start with the questions production teams ask most, then explore by requirement.

The questions that shape an enquiry.
01How do I request a quotation?
Share the production date, venue, city, load-in and soundcheck schedule, artist or production name, technical rider and billing details. We review the complete requirement before preparing the quotation so equipment, technicians and logistics are scoped clearly.
02Do you support productions outside Mumbai?
Yes. The Backline Company supports productions across India. Equipment allocation, crew movement, transport, venue access, turnaround time and recovery are planned around the specific route, city and production schedule. Transportation is quoted separately.
03Does backline rental include technicians?
Professional setup and teardown technicians are included with production-support requirements. Extended rehearsal, show-day or standby support is scoped separately according to the schedule and responsibility required. Transportation is quoted separately.
04Do you work from artist technical riders?
Yes. We review artist riders, stage plots and supporting production information, identify gaps or conflicts, confirm availability and document proposed substitutions before equipment is allocated and prepared.
05How early should I book backline?
Share the requirement as soon as the date, city and production scope are known. Lead time becomes particularly important for exact rider models, multi-artist festivals, consecutive dates, travel outside Mumbai and productions with restricted load-in windows. Availability is confirmed only in writing.
06Can you support tours and festivals?
Yes. Festival support is planned around artist riders, shared equipment, stage positions and changeover windows. Touring support adds consistent allocation, multi-city logistics, off-day responsibility, recovery and preparation for the next performance.
Share the date, venue, city, production type, artist or line-up, rider, stage plot, load-in, soundcheck, show and load-out timings, local production contact and any access restrictions. Mark provisional information clearly so the plan can distinguish confirmed facts from assumptions.
Can you review a tentative event date?
Yes. We can review a provisional requirement and identify likely equipment, crew and logistics needs. Inventory is not reserved until the booking conditions are completed and confirmation is provided in writing.
Equipment & Inventory
Can you guarantee the exact brand and model requested?
Exact models depend on availability for the confirmed dates and location. We assess what is performance-critical, propose suitable alternatives when necessary and seek written approval before an alternative becomes part of the confirmed package.
Does The Collection show every available item?
No. The public Collection presents selected production-facing equipment from a larger operational inventory of 487+ assets, accessories and support systems. Share the complete requirement even when a specific item is not shown online.
Can rental equipment be combined with an artist's personal gear?
Yes, when personal equipment, power, audio connections, stands, accessories and responsibility are disclosed in advance. We review compatibility before dispatch so the combined system can be prepared around the artist position.
Technical Riders
Who approves an equipment substitution?
The authorised artist, tour, production or promoter contact should approve substitutions in writing. We explain the proposed model, configuration and practical impact before the change is confirmed.
What happens if the rider changes after booking?
Send the revised rider immediately and mark each change clearly. We recheck availability, equipment allocation, logistics, technicians and pricing. Additions or substitutions become part of the requirement only after the revised scope is accepted in writing.
Which rider version is used for preparation?
The latest version acknowledged in writing by our team becomes the working document. Use revision dates, mark changes and nominate one authorised production contact to prevent conflicting instructions.
Delivery & Logistics
Is transportation included in the equipment rental price?
Transportation and collection are quoted separately according to city, route, access, timings, vehicle requirement, equipment volume and crew movement. The quotation identifies the logistics scope clearly.
What venue-access details must be confirmed?
Confirm the loading location, vehicle restrictions, permits, parking, lift or stair access, loading distance, security process, local contact, stage access and permitted load-in and load-out windows.
What happens if load-in, soundcheck or load-out runs late?
Tell the production team as soon as the schedule changes. Additional waiting time, crew hours, transport movement or an extended rental period can affect availability and cost and must be reviewed against the confirmed scope.
On-site Technical Support
What does extended show-day support include?
It can include rehearsals, artist changeovers, standby support, configuration continuity and agreed show-day responsibilities. The hours, technician count and exact responsibility are scoped to the production rather than treated as unlimited support.
How should an equipment issue be reported during a production?
The nominated production contact or on-site technician should report it immediately through the agreed show-day channel. Do not open, repair, rewire or substitute rented equipment without authorisation.
Pricing & Quotations
Does receiving a quotation reserve the equipment?
No. A quotation records the proposed scope and price. Equipment is reserved only after the confirmation and payment conditions stated in the quotation are completed and written confirmation is issued.
Are GST, transportation and crew costs shown separately?
The quotation identifies applicable taxes and states whether transportation, technicians, accommodation, tolls, permits or other production costs are included or listed separately.
Touring & Festivals
How are festival artist changeovers planned?
We review the line-up, artist riders, shared backline, stage plots and available changeover windows. Equipment is identified by artist position, incoming requirements are staged in advance and substitutions are agreed before show day.
Can one requirement cover several cities or consecutive dates?
Yes. Multi-city requirements are planned as a touring movement with consistent equipment allocation, transportation, technicians, storage, turnaround time, off-day responsibility and return-to-readiness defined in advance.
Policies
What happens if a production is cancelled or postponed?
Cancellation and postponement follow the accepted quotation terms. Charges can reflect inventory held, preparation completed, transportation committed, technicians scheduled and the notice provided.
Who is responsible for loss or damage during the rental?
Responsibility follows the accepted rental terms from handover or delivery until authorised return or collection. Loss, theft, liquid exposure, impact or malfunction must be reported immediately.
Are riders and production documents kept confidential?
Production documents are used for review, quotation, preparation and execution and shared only with the people needed to deliver the requirement. Raise any additional confidentiality condition before submitting documents.
